March Madness
Spring is coming!
April is the time of year when my parents come to visit from Germany. They love the weather and the surrounding Texas Hill Country. They spend their time at flea markets and rodeos! They consider Texas their second home and if you ask nicely my father might show you his collection of cowboy hats over a cup of coffee.
Their favorite destination when they visit Texas isn’t Austin, it’s Wimberley! There is a joke I share with my parents about how all roads lead there. Once we went on a trip to IKEA in Round Rock and, somehow before it was over, we found ourselves in Wimberley once again! My step mother’s favorite coffee shop is there.
But she loves my chocolate Chip cookies more. I would like to share my recipe with you.
Here you go.
Enjoy!
Oma Jutta's favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups AP flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 sticks butter room temp
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips (we prefer dark)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F
Mix flour, baking soda, salt, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla to a uniform dough. (Do not overmix!) You can do this by hand or in a mixer (less messy).
Add chocolate chips and combine quickly.
Using 2 soup spoons or an ice cream scooper, scoop out about 18 balls of dough onto a parchment paper covered cookie sheet.
These cookies will spread so give them a lot of space. (approx 3")
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until lightly browned around edges. Let cool completely.
If 18 cookies are too much you can freeze cookie dough balls and bake up fresh when needed. :)
Enjoy!
