Is Halloween sneaking up on you?!
Hello my friend!
The trees are trying to change color, despite the hot Texas fall weather. My house is busy with spooky things afoot! I am looking forward to the cool breeze of air that usually sweeps through Austin on Halloween day.
What kind of costumes are you considering? Some of my favorite family costumes are a pack of mummies, the Simpsons, KISS, all the different iterations of David Bowie and even the family from the Sound of Music!
Even though my boys are all grown up, I still love to create and participate in the magic of Halloween season. A recent journey through Pinterest has offered new ideas for a most wicked cheeseboard presentation and I am inspired to share some of Bake Austin's favorite ways to celebrate.
Does anyone remember the sinister delicacies highlighted on KXAN Studio 512? Take a look...
Come with me as we continue our journey through old Bavaria!
As we continue our learning journey through the annual event that is Oktoberfest, I wanted to tell you a story about my brother's birthday, which is on September 25th. Each year we would go to Oktoberfest to celebrate. Even though the event is known around the world for being a joyous beer drinking event, many people don't know there are a ton of rides, as if you were at a theme park.
We loved to indulge in candied nuts, cotton candy, and fruit kabobs dipped in chocolate! It was a great place to celebrate his birthday. You can't forget the gingerbread heart cookies, which are actually more like souvenirs. People typically buy them as a token of love and affection. You hang them around your neck as you walk around enjoying the festival and when you get home you hang it somewhere visible as a reminder of the wonderful time you had with your loved ones.
Celebrate with your own family and come join me in making delicious treats from around the world! The following classes are available for sign up now:
