I am in Munich
🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨🥨
Greetings from Munich!
(👆my borther and I at a Bavarian restaurant)
As you read in the last newsletter I am writing a new book aimed at young adults, specifically Generation Z. Even more specifically young adults aged 16-25.
To make this project a success, I would like to involve my current and former students. I admit that, despite having raised two Gen Z kids and having many young adult connections, I am only sometimes in tune with what they want and need. Or at least that is what my kids tell me. 😂
That's why I'm hoping to make this a collaborative effort.
The book (or potentially a series of magazines and an online platform) will focus on helping young adults, particularly those living in small spaces like apartments or dorm rooms. Having lived in a tiny house, I know how difficult it can be to cook a meal, especially when it's just for one person. My goal is to provide easy, fun, healthy, sustainable, cheap, and delicious recipes that can be made in small spaces.
Here is a link questionnaire:

I put together and if you would do me a HUGE favor, could you please forward this to your kids ages 16-25, and have them fill this out for me. It is anonymous and doesn’t take more than 3 minutes.
Thank you so so much!!!
Of course if you have ideas and wishes feel free to send me an email. I will at some point soon also send out a questionnaire for parents.
I am getting settled here in Munich and it is really cold here, as cold as it is for most of you guys. So I thought I would share my favorite Lentil soup recipe. This is definitely a favorite of mine during cold days.
German Lentil Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb. dried green lentils
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 large carrots, diced
2 large celery stalks, diced
1-2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
4 cups vegetable broth
2 cups water
1 can diced tomatoes
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried marjoram
Salt and pepper to taste
*Optional: 4-5 hot dogs (*this is how my mom would make it)
Here is how you make our German Lentil Soup:
Rinse lentils and pick out any debris.
In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrots, celery, and potato. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
Add broth, water, tomatoes, thyme, basil, marjoram, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
Add lentils and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and simmer until lentils are tender, about 25-30 minutes.
*If you want to make it like my mom: slice 4-5 hot dogs and drop them in the hot soup.
Serve hot with crusty bread. Enjoy!
Best wishes and stay warm!
