Hello everyone,
I am writing this from the Austin Airport, I am heading to see my family in Germany AND I am thrilled to announce that Bake Austin has been awarded a grant from the Texas Food & Wine Alliance and the Austin Dames.
As many of you know, the first round of students to attend Bake Austin classes in 2012 now fall into the category of young adults either finishing highschool, entering college, or graduating college. What they all have in common is that they are approaching autonomy, independence, and the beginnings of their careers. This is the life of a multi aged classroom! 😂
These young adults have slowly aged out of my classes and though I hope I was a part in instilling a love for cooking and baking in them, I want to conitue supporting them.
I believe that empowering this group is essential to building a strong and vibrant community, and I am committed to providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.
The funds from this grant will allow me to develop new program and offering specifically tailored to the needs of young adults, and I am excited to share more details with you in the coming months. I am confident that this will help us continue to build on our success and create a positive impact in our community.
Here is a little more detail about how this happened:
I applied for this grant back in October, crossing my fingers, and some of you wrote letters of references for me (THANK YOU!!) - and I was one of the 19 winners in the greaterTexas area. There were some incredible people that won grants! I was in the presence of wonderful culinary innovators and I hope I will be able to collaborate with a couple of them at some point..
We were invited to the awesome Holdsworth Center, that HEB so generously offered for the event. It was so much fun and I gotta dress up and bring a couple of my closest friends with me as well as one of my boys! (Proud Mama moment❤️🙏)
I can’t wait to get started on this project!
I will start working on this in Europe, you should see my luggage!!!! My time of traveling light has officially ended. Tripods, cameras, lights, cables, etc…… BUT I thought I would be able to capture some of the meals I will be cooking and maybe I will even have the opportunity to work with some other young people while I am overseas.
I have launched a Valentine’s Class if you want to be the first to take a class with me from Germany. It's very discounted because you will be my Beta testers. :) ❤️
Thank you again for allowing me to teach your children, I would not be here today with your continued support!
Best
Chef Pascal
