Hello everyone,
I am in the process of packing my bags to head back to the US tomorrow, actually as you read this I will call it a day - it is 10 pm here in Munich. I will write about my last week in Munich once I am back in Austin. But for now, I wanted to spotlight a couple of camps.
I 100% believe our life online camps are an amazing way for kids to learn new life skills!
Over the last 3 years, I have seen more often than ever before how powerful it is when the kids are cooking and baking in their own kitchens. It translates immediately into an ability to maneuver their own kitchens and get over their fears of using equipment, and because they are getting my guidance throughout the camps they are able to ask me any questions they may have.
I wanted to highlight one of our virtual baking camps. Summer bakes is a super fun online camp where the kids and I will bake Coconut Macarons, Strawberry Shortcakes, the most delicious Lemon Bars, a classic Peach Cobbler and yummy Fruit Tarts (with homemade creme patisserie and the best tart shells) plus we will have a few surprise recipes - *this camp is also for kids that are Guten Free (we will adjust the recipes for GF kids).
Our virtual camps are always super fun, I guide the kids and adjust each class to the student’s needs. My superpower is to listen and help kids even if they are miles away. I absolutely love online cooking/baking classes, because it gives kids the opportunity to become very familiar with their own kitchens and gain so much confidence. Again and again, I have seen even very inexperienced kids blossom right in front of my eyes. I also guide and encourage kids to clean up as we go, so you are not left with a dirty kitchen.
“The words of encouragement, incorporating cleanup to help the parents, and making the class fun while baking with the conversations that happen.” - Melissa B.
I also understand that online camps are not a possibility or preference for every family so I have opened a few in-person camps. Two of them are full now, but there is still room in a couple of them.
I want to highlight one of our In-Person camps. Due to the pandemic, I pivoted a little bit away from baking and the more I work with kids I realize how excited they are about learning how to cook savory meals.
In this camp, we will meet and cook amazing meals. The classes will be hands-on, chuck full of tips, and lots of room to experiment and learn cooking skills.
I spent a couple of weeks in the Italian part of Switzerland as well as in the Italian Rivera, and I am inspired to recreate some of the dishes I had while I was there. Let me take your kids on a culinary journey through the northern part of Italy.
I invite your children on a culinary adventure. Together, we will craft some of the region's most iconic dishes, including Risottos, Foccacia, Pannetone, Pesto, Pastas, Ragus, and Tiramisu.
Each day, we will explore new ingredients and techniques, learning to master the art of Italian cooking. Our classes are hands-on and educational.
At the end of each class, we will as a group, savor our creations and sit down to enjoy dinner together.
Your child will bring home a small taste (dessert or bread) to share with your family.
Join us on this exciting journey of discovery, as we immerse ourselves in the flavors and traditions of Northern Italy.
Here is the menu for this camp:
Monday: Trofie (pasta) al Pesto - dessert: Italian Lemon Cookies
Tuesday: Risotto alla Milanese served with roasted chicken - dessert: Strudel di Mele
Wednesday: Foccacia 4 ways - dessert: Pana Cotta
Thursday: Fettucini with Ragu alla Bolognese- dessert: Panetonne
Friday: Minestrone and ciabatta - dessert: Tiramisu
Thank you!
I will check in once I am back in Austin.
