Did you know that cupcakes ...

A little history about cupcakes
Cupcakes go back as far as 1796! It is hard to imagine. In the early 19th century they were either called cup cake or cupcake. These cakes were baked in small ramekins or pottery cups, hence the name. In England they are known as fairy cakes, but hey are usually smaller and have no icing. Actually in Germany we did not have cupcakes at all until recently. Germans seem very excited about american cookies and cupcakes. (I am often being asked for recipes by family and friends).
The term "cup cake" referred to cakes that are measured by volume, using a standard cup size.
Oh and then there are the 1234 cakes or quarter cakes, made of four ingredients: 1 cup butter, 2 cups sugar, 3 cups flour and 4 eggs. Pretty easy :)
Easy 1234 cupcake recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup of butter (2 sticks)
2 cups of sugar
3 cups of flour
4 coups of flour
(here it is were it changes)
1 cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350
Line cupcake tins with liners
Cream butter until fluffy, add sugar and continue to cream for 5 minutes, add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add vanilla and then alternately add flour and milk until combined.
Scoop into muffin tins, then level the cupcakes by dropping the muffin tins from about 3" above the counter, to release air bubbles.
Bake for approx. 10 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cover with frosting or jelly.
Enjoy!
